Past appearances and speaking engagements

Japanese Culture Workshop Event

Japanese Culture Workshop Event In November 2020, we hosted a Japanese culture experience event called "Wa no Iro Katachi" (Colors and Shapes of Japan) over two days at Zojo-ji Temple. Due to travel restrictions caused by the novel coronavirus, tourists were unable to attend, but over 300 visitors came to the event over the two days.

Bushido education at children's centers

The Bushido education program at the children's center teaches children the spirit and history of Bushido in an easy-to-understand way. We explain the meanings of Bushido words such as "Rei" (courtesy) and "Makoto" (sincerity), and allow them to experience the actual bearing and sword techniques of samurai. Through enjoyable activities, children can deepen their understanding of Japanese traditional culture and etiquette.

Bushido Experience for Junior High School Students

For junior high school students, we offer a program designed to deepen their interest in Japanese history and culture through an authentic samurai experience. Participants can experience handling real Japanese swords and learn basic forms, as well as gain a deeper appreciation of history by recreating customs that samurai practiced daily. It's a valuable opportunity to learn focus and spirituality through the appreciation of the sword.

Collaborative Performance with Osuwa Taiko

A collaborative performance of "Osuwa Daiko," a traditional performing art of Nagano Prefecture, and iaido was held, featuring Ms. Makoto Yamamoto, a percussionist of Osuwa Daiko. The original performance, a fusion of powerful drumming and elegant iaido, was a great success at a local event and received high acclaim, being featured in numerous media outlets such as "Nagano Nippo" and "Okaya Shimin Shinbun."
