Tamiya-ryu iaijutsu "Suirin Kai" transmits the charm of Japanese traditional culture through iaido, led by experienced instructors.
Chairperson and Master Kumiko Baba, who knows the difficulties and joys of mastering Iaido, has also actively engaged in cultural exchange abroad. She obtained her international license and continues to be active both domestically and internationally. In 2021, she launched the Irinkai, hosting a wide range of events such as samurai armor dressing, Demon Slayer-themed experiences for children, live steel cutting, and Yabusame (mounted archery). She provides opportunities for everyone to enjoy martial arts and Japanese culture in a relaxed setting.
Vice President Chizuko Yamano was drawn to the beauty of traditional Japanese culture through Iaido and continues to train diligently. Leveraging her experience studying Japanese dance from a young age, she emphasizes movements that incorporate awareness of the body and gaze. She views the appeal of Iaido as "a battle with oneself," pursuing harmony between the mind and body. In parallel with Iaido, she also engages in expressive activities such as musicals and tango, and works to promote Japanese culture internationally through English language instruction.
Special Advisor Susumu Tokoro holds numerous dan ranks, including Kendo 1st Dan and Iaidō 3rd Dan from the Kenbu Maidorin Federation, and has long been involved in the preservation of Japanese culture. He has participated in cultural exchanges in Italy and France wearing armor he made himself, engaging in activities to convey Japanese culture both domestically and internationally. His appearance as an armored samurai in Italy, in particular, caused a great sensation locally. He will continue to broadly promote the appeal of traditional Japanese martial arts and support the activities of the Kirin Association.
