The Suirin Society actively engages in a variety of cultural activities, centered around Iaido, while broadly inheriting and passing down Japanese traditional culture to the next generation.
Beyond Iaido, they have mastered a wide range of martial arts techniques such as Bo Shuriken, Battojutsu, Tateshi, and Spearsmanship, and have also held numerous experiential events such as Tateshi with Tateshi instructors and real sword cutting.
In these experiential events, even beginners can feel the charm of authentic martial arts with peace of mind.
Furthermore, as a cultural exchange, we presented an original performance piece in collaboration with traditional Suwa Taiko drummers from Nagano Prefecture. This initiative was featured in many media outlets, including local newspapers, and has been very well received.
(The second meeting is scheduled for December 6, 2025.)
Furthermore, we will continue to focus on comprehensively disseminating Japanese culture.
We held a large-scale event bringing together practitioners of various Japanese cultural arts such as tea ceremony, kimono dressing, sake appreciation, ink painting, ikebana, haiku, and calligraphy, providing an opportunity for people of all ages to learn about Japanese culture in an enjoyable way. (2020, at Zojo-ji Temple)
We also offer "Bushido Experience" for children.
The purpose of our activities is to go beyond the framework of Iai-do and convey the richness and depth of Japanese culture from multiple perspectives, with the aim of fostering Japanese individuals who are "iki" (chic/stylish) and "rin" (dignified/chivalrous) in both mind and body, possessing both cultural erudition and martial spirit.
We will continue to pass on the charm of Japanese culture to new generations by constantly challenging new endeavors while respecting tradition.
